News & Updates:

**Our newest special is CH Allaruth Carmel Sweet Marie v Sole Baye - aka "Cece" - co-bred and co-owned with Ruth Ziegler and Billie Phelps. Cece and Carma were most recently awarded Best of Opposite Sex at the AMSC Specialty during Great Western weekend under Breeder-Judge Marsha Feld. She also received the "Select Bitch" award under Judges Claudia Seaberg and Robert Black at the MSCSC Specialties on June 20-21.

Cece's brother, "JJ" was also recognized at GWTA with two Select Dog Awards and one Award of Merit. We are very proud of both of these young specials and look forward to their future show careers!

**CH Allaruth Carmel Sweet Marie v Sole Baye, a "Cooper" daughter, now being specialed by Carma, received the Best of Opposite Sex award at the AMSC Specialty on June 22nd in Long Beach, CA. "Cece" and Carma have been Best of Opposite Sex in quite a number of shows now. "Cece" is a full litter sister to "J.J" and a full sister to "Justin" from a repeat breeding of Cooper and Pixie!

**Carmel Living the Dream (aka "Dreamer"), a "Cooper" great-granddaughter, was awarded Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex at the "Woofstock" (Lake County, CA) show in early summer 2014.
**We are so very proud of yet another "Cooper" son, CH Allaruth Carmel Still Kidding v Sole Baye, who was Best of Breed on the final day of the Mission Circuit on May 26, 2014, in Pomona, CA. He also was recognized by Breeder-Judge Wyoma Clouss as Best in the Terrier Group that day! (To see more about "JJ" please click here)

Carmel Mini Schnauzers holds a new, important piece of breed history thanks to GCH Allaruth Just Kidding v Sole Baye. "Justin," a "Cooper" son, defeated 41,111 dogs of all breeds during his 2012 and 2013 show career handled by Bergit Kabel. He was awarded a grand total of 32 All-Breed Bests in Show - the greatest number of BIS awards for any Mini Schnauzer to date! Justin was bred and is co-owned by Mrs. Ruth Ziegler (Allaruth) and Mrs. Yvonne Billie Phelps (Sole Baye). (Portrait -left above- by Gay Glazbrook. Right above - one of Justin's many BIS awards.)
Another Cooper offspring, "Uno" (aka Carmel One Tru Luv - pictured below), was Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes on Friday of Great Western Weekend at the MS Club of So. CA specialty show. Mrs. Margaret Doty was the breeder-judge for Sweeps.
"Cooper" was in attendance as a Veteran at Montgomery County in October 2010, where he received an Award of Merit from Judge Edd Bivin (photo below). He was handled by Bergit Kabel for the AMSC Fall Specialty show at Ludwig's Corner, PA. Cooper also achieved his "Grand Champion" title in only three weekends.

A little history...

My first Miniature Schnauzer was an eight-week-old, uncropped, Valentine's present from my husband back in 1974. We named her "Heidi" and she was the love of our life. Of course, we knew nothing about crate-training and she was a naughty puppy! She was great during the day, but if we left her in the evening, she would spread garbage around the room and chew up my husband's shoes (only his - as if it were his fault that we left her). A lot of pride...

Here are a few of the major accomplishments of Carmel Mini Schnauzers:
  • Aljamar Honey Delite ("Candy") was bred to CH Aljamar Rabbit Punch and they produced the first multiple-black champion litter of three: CH Carmel Cracker Jack, CH Carmel Cinnamon 'N Honey, and CH Cinderella of Bon Vue. Candy became a Top Producer (of champions).
  • CH Carmel Nite Life (Honey's daughter) was top black and top bitch for the year 1985. She was also the first black to win Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex at a national specialty handled by Priscilla Wells in Chicago.
  • CH Carmel Nite Life was our first dog featured on the cover of Schnauzer Shorts in the June-July 1986 issue.
  • In 2006, CH Hi-Line Carmel with a Twist ("Cooper") was Best of Breed at Devon (part of Montgomery County circuit) and was invited to the prestigious Eukanuba National Championships.
  • "Cooper" finished ranked #4 MS in the U.S. in 2006.
  • In February 2007, Cooper & Carma were awarded Best of Breed at the Westminister Kennel Club under breeder-judge Mr. David Kirkland.
  • A "Cooper" son, CH Carmel Race to Kelvercrest (owned by Vera Potiker) was #1 Miniature Schnauzer in 2007 and 2008 in the United States as ranked by AKC in "Top Dogs in Conformation."
  • In 2008, three dogs of Carmel breeding were ranked in the breed's Top 10 all at one time: "Trace" and CH Alpine Loft Carmel Gluhwein (owned by Karen and Brad Child) - both Cooper sons, and CH Carmel Klassi Take a Chance (black) bred by Betty Blank and Carma and owned by Betty.
  • In Dec. 2009, CH Carmel Look to the Future was awarded Best of Breed and Best Bred-by Exhibitor at the Eukanuba National Championships by breeder-judge Mrs. Wyoma Clouss.
